Nebraska: Truck-Commercial

NEBRASKA TRUCK PLATES

Truck began 1919.  Law passed 4/11/1919, effective immediately
for new registrations.  Renewals had to turn in 1919 passenger
plates in 1920 to get Truck plates.

1919-20   T 549 - T19145  (All are Type 2 - Thin dies, 6" tall)

1922-32 FORMATS        1-T1 - 9-T9999       County codes same as
                      10-T1 - 93-T999       passenger all years.

Farm issued separate series 1928-29, with "F" in place of "T".
1930 #22-T1058 reported.
1931:  882 plates ordered in 10-T1000+ format.

1933 #11-F1048 seen with non-serif final "1", thinner "F" and

hyphen, but Otoe only registered 661 Farm Trucks in 1933.
1942-44 Farm and Local are small Trailer-size plates.

1940:     Each weight class starts at 1.
1941-43:  Each weight class starts at progressively higher number
          block, with C/A starting at 1.  Each county has different

1944 plate dated "4" only.  No hyphen used, just a blank space
for riveted weight class tab.  Hyphen added before tab space

Starting 1972, Commercial Truck plates were issued singly to truck-
tractors (#5-1 - 5-600, 10-1 - 10-450) and in pairs to other trucks
(#5-601 up and 10-451 up).  The number assignments undoubtedly
varied by county.  In 1976, the assignments were #10-1 - 10-250 in
singles, and #10-251 up in pairs.
Monthly staggered registration began 1/2/1976, same as passenger.

WEIGHT WINDSHIELD STICKERS
Issued 1956-60, 1961?  The Interstate Commerce Commission ruled that,
starting July 1, 1961, windshield stickers would no longer be allowed
on commercial trucks.

WEIGHT STICKERS   All are Fully Reflective.  2 1/2" x 1" 1963-65, 3" x 1" 1966-80.
