Arkansas: PrestateCycle

ARKANSAS

The only known pre-state motorcycle plate is a Little Rock 1909 #1 issue.  The 1911 state law did not include motorcycles at all, so city licensing continued from 1911 to 1921, but none are known to exist.

It was not until 1921 Act 494, passed March 26, 1921, and effective May 1, 1921, that the registration of motorcycles and side cars was included, along with trucks and trailers.  The fees were $5 for motorcycles and $2.50 for side cars.  Registration figures for 1921 indicate that 171 motorcycles were registered that first year.  However, the earliest known motorcycle plate is from 1924.
