under terms of the new act adding one and a half cents per gallon
on gasoline. A one cent rebate will be made to owners of autos if

Special markers will be prepared for motor vehicles exempted from
payment of the tax." A $100 fine applied if vehicle was caught
outside city or town limits; effective 4/1/1927.

Began 1/1/1960. Issued to out-of-state trucks, required to pay
gasoline tax for the miles driven in Maryland, to avoid any
loss of revenue by truckers tanking up in other states before
crossing through Maryland. Issued in response to West Virginia's
Road Tax permit, which began 7/1/1959.
