Yukon began automobile registration and territory-issued plates in 1914.  The 1914-23 issues are flat steel and appear to have been made by a local sign painter.  The Yukon prospector has been featured on all plates since 1952, complete with a dot of gold in the miner's pan.  (Since 1985, the entire pan has been filled with gold.)  Yukon was the "LAND OF THE MIDNIGHT SUN" from 1952 through 1970.  The current issue of plates began in late 1990.
