Saskatchewan: Home

Automobile registration in Saskatchewan began in June 1906, about nine months after becoming a province.  Province-issued plates began in 1912.  The provincial coat-of-arms was used on plates and tabs in 1919-22.  1937 plates proclaimed "CORONATION YEAR" in honor of the crowning of King George VI.  "GOLDEN JUBILEE" was noted on 1955 plates, and "CANADA CENTENNIAL" was celebrated in 1967.  The earliest of the two currently valid base plates began issue in 1977.
