1913:  Type 1 - Round corners           1  -   2580

       Type 2 - Square corners       2609  -  14084      (11,476 S)

1914:  Type 1 - Sunken numbers          1  -  16998

       Type 2 - Raised numbers      17035  -  19993       (2,959 S)

      (17849 - 18324 high "4" crossbar, 19364 - 19914 low "4" crossbar)

1915:  5-digits have slightly thinner font than 1-4-digits.

1916:  2-digits have dash prefix.

1917:  Type 1 - Green back              1  -  49450

       Type 2 - Black back          50983  -  66786      (15,804 S)

1918:  2-3-digits have wide dies, 4-6-digits have thin dies.

1919:  Denver assigned #1 - 23-000, but numbers up to 31-619 seen.

       6-digit has 4 slots at top, not 2.

1920:  1-4-digits have thicker date than 5-6-digits.

       Matching 1920 dated pairs only seen #44-783 - 44-790.

      (#44-554 issued 8/30/1920 in Jefferson Co.)  Single #40-949 seen.

Description of 1920 Types:

Type 1 - Large date (1" tall) "0" of 1920 matching "O" of COLO, olive back

Type 2 - Smaller date (7/8" tall) "0" of 1920 than "O" of COLO, olive back

Type 3 - As Type 2, but dark blue back

 

1922:  Late issues have black back, not white back (44-952 seen)

1923:  #1 has two small flanking stars.

       Late issues have green back, not black back (46-386 seen)

1928:  Late issues have low 1929 hyphen.

1930:  Type 1 - Flat strike      (21 counties, see Branch Offices)

       Type 2 - Deeply embossed  (33 counties plus Denver extra)

                                 (9 counties unknown)

1937:  Type 1 - 4 corner holes, all counties including

                1-88350, 2-11277, 14-4041.

       Type 2 - No corner holes, late issues,

                1-95535 - 96375, 2-17245 - 17555, 14-5311, 25-1836,

                48-719 - 757, 56-644. (1,194 P)

1947:  Late issues aluminum, not steel.

1949:  Late issues steel, not aluminum.

1956:  Denver plates have small colon; all others have large colon.

       Counties 10-12 have no colon or "19" of date; stacked prefix

1957:  Counties 10-13, 15 have no "19" of date; stacked prefix.

       Pitkin County has FR Scotchlite background

       57-2097 highest known (1,200 P made = 57-2200)

       Gilpin County has FR beaded background on one of each pair

       60-1499 highest known   (520 S made = 60-1520)

1958:  Summit County has beaded reflective numbers 6/1  1 - 6/1 999.

       El Paso and Jefferson have thinner letters on double-letter

       series 4/AA 1 - 4/DD 999, 11/AA 1 - 11/FF 999.

       Pueblo County has first digit flush left on #2 25 - 2 987.

2000-20 BASE:  New zero die introduced October 2004, "9 05", still

               oval but not with pointed ends.  KKJ has old "0", KKU

               has new "0", 336 KKO, 039 KKU are Respect Life bases.

               Pointed zero used instead of letter "O" on at least

               series CZO-DEO.

2005 Sticker:  Straight "5" or slanted "5".
