The Times Dispatch (Richmond), 4/8/1948:  "Adjutant-General S.
Gardner Waller yesterday announced restoration of the prewar
practice of providing National Guard officers with identifying
automobile license plates.  License tags of the numerical series
94,501 to 95,000 will be made available to those who wish them.
Officers will pay for the tags, which will differ from ordinary
license plates only in bearing the words 'National Guard'."
 
(North Carolina also suspended their National Guard plates from
