boats, as well as privately-owned boats included with lake cottage rentals,

to be licensed for 50 cents by May 1 of each year by the State Division of

Hotel and Resort Inspection.  Winona Daily News, 9/12/1945:  "It shall be

the duty of the owners of all boats licensed under the act to properly

affix the license tag in a prominent place on the bow of the boat."

Licensed:  18,000 by 9/1/1945, 26,023 in 1946/47, 29,193 by 9/1/1947, and

36,000 in 1957/58.
