Kansas: Home

Kansas started automobile registration and state-issued plates on July 1, 1913.  The first eight years of plates were fiscal-year issues valid from July 1 to June 30, so they are all undated but with different colors and "KAN" placement.  Kansas has advertised its sunflowers, wheat, map outline, centennial year, central location, state capital building and state seal over the years.  The earliest of the two currently valid base plates began issue in 2001.
