Automobile registration in Nevada began in 1913.  License plates were to be supplied by auto owners until the first state-issued plate came out in 1916.  Several official-looking dated 1913 plates and undated 1914-15 plates of a uniform appearance are known, but these were actually privately-contracted plates offered by the Carson City News for an extra fee.  The current issue of plates started in 2001.
