RESERVED NUMBERS
Began 1922.  Reserved series was 100 - 5000 in 1926-43, and
1 - 5000 in 1944-45.  In 1945, 5001 - 9999 were reservable
only by written request.  Reserved series was 1 - 9999 in 1947.
1941 and 1942 #9806, 1944-48 #10-034, and 1939-48 #18-500 seen.
All numbers reservable for no extra fee 1950-61.  Starting 1962,
only plain numbers 1 - 9999, and 1 - 100 in each county prefix,
were reserved.  In 1979, all county series and XA-XN became
personalized.

The 1949 county system was created in order to entice owners
to renew earlier by getting a low number.  It worked!  The
